This is the year Queen Beatrix will abdicate in favour of her son, Prince Willem-Alexander. Gossip-magazine Story has the scoop: on September 6th, the Prince of Orange will be King! According to Story, which also 'scooped' Princess Máxima's first pregnancy one year before it actually happened, everything is already prepared. "The evidence is piling up", royalty-writer René Kistemaker claims.
The date is not chosen at random, Mr. Kistemaker suggests. Queen Beatrix' late husband Prince Claus was born on that day in 1926, and - Story forgets to mention - it is also the date in 1948 that Beatrix' mother Juliana became Queen of the Netherlands. "All Royal Military Police have their leave cancelled" the weekly magazine can reveal. Better proof of course does not exist.
The claim is substantiated by Cor de Horde, one time respectable editor-in-chief of Dutch royalty monthly Vorsten. He too says 2008 will be the year of the abdication. "And September 6 looks like a very good date to me", Mr. De Horde is quoted in Story. © GPD Netherlands Press Association
