"There are many that do a lot worse than me. I was not a traditional cancer patient. I belong to the exceptions and was diagnosed early. And the doctors convinced me right away that I would be healthy again. But clearly, it involves the whole family when a person is affected by cancer, and one is the more anxious", King Harald said on Thursday.
"But we were very lucky", Queen Sonja quickly added. The candid remarks of the Norwegian King came on the last day of his State Visit to Portugal. The royal couple went to the northern Portuguese town of Porto (Oporto), home of the famous Port wine, and situated along the Douro River.

In his remarks to the press King Harald also spoke of an "easy and pleasant trip". With "easy" he ment that it was easy to talk to the presidential couple, which were both friendly and spoke good English. The Queen was particularly impressed by the architecture and the many old buildings, Norwegian newspaper VG reported from Porto.
The royal couple was looking forward to their stay in their new holiday home at Kongsgård on Bygdøy, where they recently moved in for the summer. "It's really nice to be able to go straight out and just sit on the steps", said Queen Sonja.
