True or false? French society magazine ‘Gala’ claims to know for sure. The wedding dress is already ordered. Palace personnel has had their leave cancelled. At age 50 prince Albert of Monaco is about to announce his engagement to South African Charlene Wittstock.
The Palace should announce the news on Wednesday, the magazine wrote: Le Rocher devrait l'annoncer ce mercredi: le prince Albert II va officialiser avec Charlène Wittstock, sa compagne depuis deux ans.
But Wednesday came and went without a word from ‘the Rock’. No panic, 25 September is ‘rumoured’ to be the big day of the engagement Gala wrote.
The wedding would be in 2009. Either in Spring, Summer or Fall… It is the news "all Monaco" is talking about, especially since Gala hit the newsstands. Unfortunately it is not the first time the engagement has been called "imminent" - and before the speculations have been proven wrong.
