Stars come out for birthday party Charles

Singer Rod Stewart headlined a star-studded bash for Prince Charles' birthday party Saturday in England. The pop star performed at a party given by Charles' wife, Camilla, at their Highgrove estate home in southwest England. It is the third celebration in a week for the prince, who turned 60 on Friday.

His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, held a dinner party and concert at Buckingham Palace on Thursday. And on Friday, the prince was honored with a 41-gun salute in London's Hyde Park and a celebration with young people sponsored by his charity. Comedian Rowan Atkinson, known to most as Mr. Bean, was among the first guests to arrive.

Others included actresses Dame Judi Dench and Joanna Lumley, as well as Camilla's former husband, Brigadier Andrew Parker Bowles. Britain's Press Association reported that Charles' sons, princes William and Harry, stayed overnight at Highgrove. It said their girlfriends, Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy, also put in an appearance at the party on Saturday. © GPD AP
