Security is already expected to be tighter this year in the wake of a failed attack on the Dutch royal family last month in the Netherlands. Belgian anti-terror police official Andre Vandoren told VRT radio on Saturday that extra security measures could be taken if the threat is deemed to be serious. The 80-year-old queen is the widow of King Baudouin, who died in 1993. Baudouin was succeeded by his brother, King Albert II, while Spanish-born Fabiola kept her official title of queen. © GPD AP Belgian police say they are investigating a death threat against Queen Fabiola. A letter was sent to a Belgian newspaper by an unknown group threatening to kill Fabiola with a crossbow during July 21 Independence Day festivities in Brussels.

Why is it that anyone would announce their intent before they commit the crime. What is the purpose?
