Princess Carolina of Bourbon Parma married Mr Albert Brenninkmeijer, member of the board of directors of his family's C&A business, in a true fairy tale wedding in Florence, Italy, Saturday. Most members of the Dutch royal family attended, including Queen Beatrix and Princess Mabel.
Princess Carolina is the youngest daughter of the late Prince Carlos Hugo, Duke of Parma, and carlist pretender to the throne of Spain, and Princess Irene of the Netherlands. Queen Beatrix is her aunt.
The wedding was held at the Basilica di San Miniato al Monte in Florence - a splendid location, overlooking the Arno river and the ancient Italian town. The bride was taken to the altar by her elder brother Prince Carlos Xavier, the current Duke of Parma.
The wedding dress was designed by the Dutch couturier Addy van den Krommenacker. It had a lace top and a layerd skirt of silk and organza with lace appliqués. For the dress lace was used from the wedding dress worn by Princess Irene in 1964 at her wedding with Prince Carlos Hugo in Rome. © GPD, with © DPP
