Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands read the Speech from the Throne on Tuesday at the Knight's Hall in The Hague. It was the 33rd time the monarch read the plans of her government to the members of both houses of parliament.
The queen travelled to the ancient Binnenhof in the Golden Coach, a present of the citizens of Amsterdam to her grandmother Queen Wilhelmina. She was accompanied by Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima.
In a second coach Princess Margriet, her husband Prof. Pieter van Vollenhoven, Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien were driven from Noordeinde Palace to and from the parliamentary quarter of The Hague. © RB
