Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands bid farewell to visiting Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and his wife Clio Thursday morning at the Noordeinde Palace in The Hague at the end of a short State Visit by Napolitano.
The 87 year old - the fourth oldest head of state in the world - President arrived on Tuesday, and was hosted at a banquet at the Palace that evening. He offered the queen a concert by Italian violist Uto Ughi in return, as a way of saying 'grazie' for the reception.
Queen Beatrix was joined by Prince Willem-Alexander, Princess Margriet and her husband Pieter van Vollenhoven for both the State dinner and the concert. Willem-Alexander's wife Princess Máxima was absent. She was visiting Nigeria in her capacity as special UN envoy for inclusive finance.
