The Danish Royal Family does not wait long into the New Year to start its official engagements. At 7 PM on New Year's Day Queen Margrethe II and Prince-consort Henrik hosted a reception and dinner at Amalien borg Palace, to which 'official' Denmark was invited: government, representatives from parliament and the officials of the Royal Court.

Together with the so called Regentparret the dinner was attended by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary and by Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt headed the invited guests.

The Danish royals will host three more receptions this week, one at Amalienborg and two in Christiansborg, seat of the parliament.
