Dutch gossip magazine "Party" has to pay 3,000 euro in damages to Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima, a court in Amsterdam ordered. The magazine last year published pictures of Máxima and her daughters Amalia and Alexia during a rare private outing on the beach of Wassenaar.
The princely couple stated that the photos constituted an invasion of their privacy, and especially of their daughters. "Party" at the time apologised but was not willing the 10,000 euro in damages demanded by Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima. They decided to take the magazine and its publisher to court.
The judge said that the royals should expect the general public to take pictures of them when they visit such a public place as a beach, but they do not have to accept that press photographers take their pictures and publish them. © RB
