Princess Mabel on Tuesday will speak at a symposium in The Hague honouring rabbi Awraham Soetendorp, who recently retired at age 65. She will speak on "Forming a global partnership - the European contribution."
Theme of the gathering is "The Insolent Waters: Moral Choices for an Endangered Planet." Former Dutch Prime Minister Ruud Lubbers, former UN High Commissioner for Refugees, is one the main speakers as well. His subject: "Forming a global partnership to care for the Earth and one another."
Rabbi Awraham Soetendorp for fourty years was rabbi of the Reform Jewish Community of The Hague, and rabbi of the Union of Dutch Reform Jewish Communities. He also served as President of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, European Region and Member of the Group of Spiritual Leaders - World Economic Forum Davos.
Princess Mabel, 39, is married to Prince Friso, second son of Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands. She is International Advocacy Director for the London office of the Open Society Institute. © RB
