bsA foreigner crown the king of Tonga Friday because no Tongan can touch his head. Reverend 'Ahio, the royal chaplain, said that in Tongan culture, the head and brain were sacred, reports the Fiji Times, based on Talaki, an English translation summary of highlights from Tonga's newspapers.
The coronation of King George Tupou V will be held at the Centenary Church in Nuku'alofa. The Taumafa kava or the traditional installation ceremony of the king by the noblemen of Tonga will be held on Wednesday.
King Tupou V has designated all proceeds from any commercialisation of his coronation to be donated to a charity fund established specifically to address health research for diabetes in particular and other lifestyle diseases in general, reported The Fiji Times On Line. (c) GPD; Foto: (c) GPD AP
