Dutch Prince Friso, second son of Queen Beatrix and the late Prince Claus, turns 40 at the end of September. His wife Princess Mabel, since July CEO for 'The Elders', celebrated her 40th birthday last month.
Together they threw a party for family and friends last weekend, and to commemorate the happy occasion they released some unique family pictures.
Prince Friso, who with his family of four lives and works in London, is patron of the Holland Windmill Society. What better place to take the family pictures than the polder outside the royal residence in The Hague, where three centuries old windmills can be found in a row, the 'Molendriegang' as it is called in Dutch. The windmills were built in 1672.
The princely couples' two daughters, countess Luana (aged 3) and countess Zaria (aged 2) were last photographed when they attended their cousin Ariane's baptism in October 2007. As evidenced by the pictures the two blond girls have grown a lot since.
