Prince Kardam of Bulgaria will be taken out of his artificial coma in the coming days, his brother Prince Konstantin told Spanish media on Thursday. According to Konstantin the family is beginning to have hope that Kardam’s condition may improve. Kardam has been in hospital since August 15.
The eldest son of former Bulgarian King Simeon II was gravely injured after a car accident near Madrid. He sustained serious head trauma and lost two fingers in the accident. His wife Princess Miriam was with him in the car and suffered less serious injuries. She was released from a different hospital on September 4.
Prince Konstantin said that Kardam's two fingers have not been amputated, but that he lossed them during the accident. Docter’s have advised Princess Miriam to not visit her husband in hospital yet.
