The guestlist for the wedding of Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria and Count Roldolphe de Limburg Stirum was long, very long Saturday in the Flemish city of Mechelen.
Not of all them have been recognized or even photographed - Grand Duke Jean of Luxembourg entered by a back door for instance. But a sample of the many guests from Europe's reigning and non-reigning royal houses and nobility can be given, thanks to our diligent photographer Patrick van Katwijk.
A short who-is-who at Belgium's wedding of the year.
* Princess Astrid of Belgium and her daughter Princess Maria Laura.
* Queen Fabiola of Belgium and the Duke of Brabant, Prince Philip. Marie-Christine's grandmother was Joséphine Charlotte, Princess of Belgium, and sister to Queen Fabiola's late husband, king Boudouin and current King Albert II.
* Crown Prince Alexander II of Serbia and Crown Princess Katherine.
* Crown Princess Margarita of Romania and Prince Radu, Prince of Hohenzollern-Veringen. Although Romania's constitution does rule out female succession - should the monarchy be restored - King Mihai has decreed that his eldest daughter will be next in line.
* Prince Jean of Luxembourg and his twin sister Princess Margarita, now Princess of Liechtenstein (as wife of Prince Nikolaus, brother to Fürst Hans Adam II). Prince Nikolaus is Liechtenstein's ambassador to the European Union and the Vatican.
* Grand-Duke Henri of Luxembourg and Grand-Duchess Maria Teresa. The Grand-Duke had a tough week after deciding to tell the government and parliament he would not sign a law facilitating euthanasia, if passed by parliament. Luxembourg will now change the Constitution to bypass royal consent for laws.
* Princess Hélenè de France, 74, and Count Philippe de Limburg Stirum (brother of the groom). The Princess was the first of the children of Henri, Count of Paris to marry, in 1957 to Count Evrard de Limburg Stirum, brother to the groom's father.
* Archduke Carl-Peter and Archduchess Alexandra of Austria with son Archduke Lorenz.
Carl Peter is the grandson of the late Emperor Karl of Austria.
* Hereditary Grand-Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg, Princess Alexandra, Prince Louis, Tessy de Nassau (spouse of Prince Louis), Prince Sébastien and Prince Félix.
* Prince Félix of Luxembourg, with Princess Maria Anunciata of Liechtenstein, daughter of Princess Margarita and Prince Nikolaus. Maria Anunciata was one of the witnesses at the wedding ceremony.
* Archduchess Marie-Astrid, Princess of Luxembourg. Mother of the bride and elder sister to Grand-Duke Henri.
* Princess Sibilla, née Weiller, and Prince Guillaume of Luxembourg (younger brother of Grand-Duke Henri.
* Prince Wenzeslaus of Liechtenstein and his mother, Princess Isabelle of Liechtenstein, née de l'Arbre de Malander.
The prince seems bewildered at the hat his mother is wearing.
* Archduchess Marie-Christine of Austria and Count Rodolphe de Limburg Stirum.
