The couple - in line with Danish tradition - will not announce the name of the newly born till the christening ceremony some time later. Both Queen Margrethe and her husband Prince-consort Henrik - who brought along the baby's half brothers Nikolai and Felix - visited the hospital later Monday. Joachim and Marie married in May 2008. Joachim is the younger brother of Crown Prince Frederik and is fourth in the line of royal succession. He has two sons _ Felix, 7, and Nikolai, 9 _ from a previous marriage with Hong Kong-born Alexandra Manley. The couple divorced in 2005 in Denmark's first royal split in nearly 160 years. It was Queen Margrethe's fifth grandchild. The newborn _ weighing 6.7 pounds (3032 grams) and measuring 20 inches (49 centimeters) at birth _ is seventh in line to the Danish throne.
Joachim said his 33-year-old wife and the child were both doing fine. "It is a very moving moment", the 39-year-old prince told reporters at the Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen. He said he was present during the birth and cut the umbilical cord.
