Later the Japanese royals will travel to neighbouring Bolivia. © GPD AP Peru welcomed Prince Hitachi and Princess Hanako on Saturday at the start of their visit to commemorate the 110th anniversary of Japanse immigration to the South American country.
Prince Hitachi, younger brother of Emperor Akihito, and his wife were greeted by Peru's presidential couple, Alan Garcia and Pilar Nores de Garcia.
The royal couple paid their respects at the centenary monument, commemorating the migration from Japan. On Sunday they met with representatives of the Japanese community, which is believed to be 100,000 members strong.
