King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia arrived at the military base of Son Sant Joan in Palma de Mallorca, Saturday, to start their summer vacation. Their arrival comes two days after two members of the Guardia Civil were killed in a car bomb blast on the Balearic island. Other members of the royal family are already on Mallorca. The royals intend to carry on as usual and not let the act of terror, believed to be perpetrated by the Basque terrorist group ETA, influence the way to live and work.
Queen Sofia will leave Mallorca again this weekend, accompanied by her daughters the Infantas Cristina and Elena and their families, to attend the Greek-orthodox christening of Prince Aristides in Greece. Aristides is the youngest and fifth child of the Greek heir to the throne, Prince Paul (Pavlos) and his American born wife Princess Marie Chantal.
