Luxembourg's Maria Theresa out of hospital

Luxembourg's Grand-Duchess Maria Theresa has been released from hospital. She is back at the royal residence of Berg Castle for convalescence, the Grand-Ducal Court said in a statement released Saturday.

The 53-year old Grand-Duchess Maria Theresa underwent surgery at the Saint Luke University Hospital in Brussels, Belgium, the Court announced Tuesday. The surgery had been planned long in advance, and went smoothly and without complications.

The Grand-Duchess was treated by Professor Jacquez Donnez, Chairman of the Catholic University of Louvain and Head of the Department of Gynecology. Several years ago Donnez acted as official witness to the birth of Belgium's Princess Luise, dauther of Prince Laurent and Princess Claire.

Maria Theresa will need several weeks of recovery, the palace statement said. © GPD
