The Royal Palace in Brussels, Belgium, announced that the funeral of Prince Alexander, who died suddenly on Sunday at age 67, will be held on Friday, December 4th. Most members of the Belgian royal family are expected to attend the service.
The Palace said that both King Albert II, a half brother of Prince Alexander, and Queen Paola will be present, along with Queen Fabiola, Prince Philip and his wife Mathilde (who mark their tenth wedding anniversary Friday), Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire.
The remains of Prince Alexander, who is survived by his wife Princess Léa, will be interred in a chapel next to the Royal Crypt in the Church of Our Lady near the royal palace in Laeken, on the outskirts of Brussels.
Princess Astrid and Prince Lorenz are currently in Cartagena, Colombia. The Princess is scheduled to give a speech on Thursday. It is yet unclear if she is able to speak and make it in time back to Brussels as well. © GPD
