Sultan Qaboos bin Saeed of Oman is on a fraternal visit to the neighbouring United Arab Emirates, Gulf news agencies report. The Sultan is heading a high ranking delegation which seeks to strengthen the relations between both countries.
UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, also ruler of Abu Dhabi, met with the Sultan both Saturday and Sunday. The two leaders held a round of talks at Al Reef Palace in Al Ain, the ‘garden city’ and second largest town of Abu Dhabi. They were joined by Dubai’s Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is Prime Minister of the UAE.
According to the Emirates News Agency Sheikh Khalifa said he was looking forward to further fruitful cooperation with Oman. Sultan Qaboos expressed his pleasure at visiting the country as part of the continuing coordination between the two countries.
Sheikh Khalifa on Sunday met again with the Sultan, this time at the Mushrif Palace. Khalifa’s son, Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, was also present at the meeting. © GPD; Source: agencies
