Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands has been asked to officially re-open the Musée d’Art de la Ville de Luxembourg - Villa Vauban in Luxembourg on Saturday May 1. She will be accompanied by Luxembourg's grand-ducal couple, Henri and Maria Teresa.
The city art museum of Luxembourg, which houses paintings which have been collected by Luxembourgers, has been closed for five years for renovation. It will start its new life with an exhibition called ‘The Golden Age Reloaded’.
Paintings of Dutch painters Jan Steen, Gerard Dou and the Felmish artist David Teniers de Jonge from the Villa's collection will be shown together with paintings of Frans Hals, Govaert Flinck, Paulus Potter and Jacob van Ruisdael on loan from Amsterdam's Rijksmuseum. © GPD
