Luxembourg's Grand Duke Henri will attend the funeral for Prince Carlos Hugo of Bourbon Parma, Duke of Parma and Piacenza, in the Basilica Santa Maria della Steccata in Parma, Italy, Saturday. Henri, himself a Bourbon Parma through his grandfather Prince Félix, will be joined by almost the entire Dutch royal family.
Prince Carlos Hugo, whose father Prince Xavier was a brother of Prince Félix and Austria's last Empress Zita, is the former husband of Princess Irene of the Netherlands - a younger sister of Queen Beatrix. Although Carlos Hugo and Irene divorced in 1981, relations between them have remained good enough for Carlos Hugo to remain part of the Dutch royal family.
Queen Beatrix sent the government plane to Barcelona to collect the body of her former brother in law, who was brought to her palace in The Hague for a final farewell. On Monday the remains were transferred to Italy.
