The Earl and Countess of Wessex will wind up their extensive and no doubt demanding tour of the Caribbean on behalf of Queen Elizabeth II in Antigua and Barbuda. It is the final stop of their 9 island trip celebrating the Diamond Jubilee.
Prince Edward and his wife Sophie arrive in English Harbour from Anguilla, one of 14 British overseas territories. They will spend two days in Antigua. Meanwhile the Queen's cousin, The Duke of Gloucester, on Tuesday starts his four day tour of the British Virgin Islands, while Prince Harry is in Jamaica representing his grandmother.
The royal visitors start their programme in Admiral's House Museum, followed by a visit to Dow's Hill Interpretation Center, and a lunch given by the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Winston Baldwin Spencer, at the Admiral's Inn. Later Tuesday they will also attend a State Dinner given at the Mill Reef Club.
On their final day the Earl and Countess will visit St John’s Cathedral in the capital St John’s.
The Caribbean tour commemorating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee started February 21 in St Lucia, and took the royal couple also to Barbados, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago, Montserrat, St Kitts and Nevis, and Anguilla.
The Duke of Gloucester starts a four day visit to the British Virgin Islands. His visit is the thirteenth Royal visit to the Territory since 1787. The Queen's cousin, who will leave BVI again on Friday, is set to visit various venues to learn about the culture, life and history of the Islands. Prince Richard will also pay a courtesy call to Premier Orlando Smith.
