King Juan Carlos of Spain has reacted to the announcement of Pope Benedict XVI to vacate the Holy See at the end of February. The King in a message posted on the royal website said he valued the 'special relationship maintained by His Holiness with Spain, reflected in three memorable visits of Benedict XVI to our country.'
The King referred to his meetingsof the Pope with the Spanish royal family, and remembered them with affection.
