Almost one year to the day her son Prince Friso was hit by an avalanche while skiing off-piste near the Austrian ski resort Lech, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands has returned. She will be joined in Lech by her Princess Mabel and her two daughters, and by Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima and their children.
Queen Beatrix, who last month announced her abdication set for April 30, has been coming to Lech for over 60 years. She has seen the small Austrian village in Vorarlberg grow to a high class resort, which frequently welcomes other royal visitors as well. "But with none do we have such a special report as with the Dutch royal family", the Director of Lech Tourism said in a recent interview. © RB
