The Swedish Royal Family on Tuesday attended the festive Polar Music Prize award ceremony at Konserthuset, the Stockholm Concert Hall. Laureates were Peter Sellars and Chuck Berry and the prizes were handed out by King Carl XVI Gustaf.
Prince Carl Philip was the only member of the Royal Family missing as he started his participation in the internationale maritime exercise Northern Coasts; Carl Philip will be at sea for two weeks in the joint exercise of NATO, EU and Baltic state Navy’s.
However, his sister Princess Madeleine was in town for the Awards dinner at the Grand Hotel and her husband Christopher O’Neill attended the ceremony as well, along with the King, Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel. Like Madeleine, the Queen only was at the dinner
Peter Sellars and Dave Edmunds, who stood in for the 87-year old Chuck Berry who could not travel to Sweden due to illness, received a beautiful new award designed by Efva Attling and Orrefors, as well as the prize money of one million SEK each. © RB
