Queen Máxima of the Netherlands on Thursday in The Hague attended the start of 'Work Week', an initiative to tackle youth unemployment. The queen joined young job seekers having network discussions with business managers.
The 'Work Week' is organised by De Broekriem, an initiative of young people looking for work, started in 2012 in Utrecht. De Broekriem facilitates meetings between young job seekers. Through workshops and meetings they seek to enhance the skills of young people.
In the Netherlands 122,000 young people are unemployed. In September, when the summer is over, many young people start their search for work. During the Work Week their are over 100 activities across the country intended to strengthen the position of young people in the labor market.
