Camera's are not very forgiving for the Danish Royal Family when attending the annual opening of Parliament in Christiansborg Palace. While Queen Margrethe and her family listen to the speech outlining government policy, they are closely observed for any lapse in attention to the words of the 'Statsminister'- the Prime Minister, Helle Thorning Schmidt.
Tuesday was no exception to the rule as the royals were watched by photographers and cameramen as they sat in their reserved seats in the public gallery above the hemicycle in the palace, which now houses government and parliament.
The Queen and Prince-Consort Henrik arrived shortly before noon at Christiansborg, where the rest of the family was waiting for them on the red carpet. Princess Benedikte, the queen's sister, and Princess Marie, wife of the queen's youngest son Prince Joachim, had to hold on firmly to their hats, as the courtyard in front of the parliament got very drafty.
Benedikte arrived first, followed by Joachim and Marie and Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary. Together they waited for the royal couple.
