The Dutch Caribbean will welcome three royal visitors in as many days at the end of April and the start of May. Princess Beatrix is set to visit Curaçao on May 2, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are to visit the islands of Bonaire (April 30) and Aruba (May 1).
It is the first time Princess Beatrix returns to Willemstad in Curaçao since her abdication in April 2013 and her succesful visit to the island in November 2011, when she was accompanied by Prince Willem-Alexander and Princess Máxima. Last year the former queen already visited the island of St Maarten.
Princess Beatrix will open the exposition ‘Guera na Kòrsou?!; War in Curaçao 1940-1945’ in the Curaçao Museum in Willemstad. The exposition highlights the events that involved Curaçao during the Second World War, now 70 years ago.
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will attend the local festivities of Día de Ricon on the island of Bonaire before heading to Aruba to join in the bicentenary celebrations of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which will be marked with Sail Aruba. © RB
